Lisa Yee Goes Back To School . . . With Mr. Glick!

After Millicent Min, Gril Genius was published, Lisa returned to the 7th grade at Brightwood School in Monterey Park, California. She spoke to three of Mr. Barry Glick's classes about her her writing career and what it took to get a book published. Here's what Mr. Glick had to say about his former student . . .

"The students really enjoyed your visit. You made them understand that you must keep your dreams alive. Your success as an author proved that, and your book is giving a great deal of joy to many kids, young and old. You have a Fan Club at Brightwood School!"

And here's what some of the students had to say . . .

"I found your presentation to be very exciting. I loved that part when you told us about your life and how you got started in writing. When I heard you were coming, I thought you were one of those boring authors who talk and talk and talk. But when you actually came, you looked cool and you didn't just talk about your book, you also talked about your life too and I find that fascinating! It has been a real treat!" -- Justin

"Thank you for the most interesting speech I've ever received from a guest speaker." -- Yolly

"I noticed that you understood how we feel at this age; not only with being in school, but also with our everyday life . . . your presentation was one that we could relate to." -- Araceli

"Your presentation and words of experience in the real world were simply extraordinary." -- Yumi

"You are the best guest speaker. When you were in front of the class you were cool!" -- Mega

"My mom was excited to hear that you were speaking to our class and now I know why. Our class thought you would be someone old and we were surprised that you were so young as you look like a student. Well, maybe like an older student. -- Edward

"I was in awe when you spoke to us about your journey to get to where you are right now. It's amazing that you came all the way from Mr. Glick's class (in the 1970s). I can only imagine where I will be in the future. I really enjoyed all the parts of your presentation. You seemed so relaxed and ready to talk in our point of view because you have been in our footsteps." -- Joseph

"Since your lecture was very interesting and easy-going, I didn't write very many notes. I thought you were just wonderful and I just memorized everything right there and then." -- Jamie
