Why, it's the evolution of the cover for
                            BOBBY VS. GIRLS (ACCIDENTALLY)

Art director Elizabeth Parisi sent some photos to illustrator Dan Santat as an example of what Arthur A. Levine Books/Scholastic was looking for.

The final cover for the hardback book is above When the book went into paperback, the cover was changed (below) to match the second BOBBY book, BOBBY THE BRAVE (SOMETIMES).

For the paperback version, we decided to go in the direction of some of Dan's earlier sketches.
"The cover had to go through a long evolution of sketches and different typography styles and I thought it would be fun to show you all the different sketches I did. Note that the title of the book changes during the evolution."  -- Dan Santat, illustrator

Here's another example of cover changes.
